Science4You
This plastic-free kit includes over 15 experiments with 49 pieces of content and a 36-page educational book.
GeoMag Recycled Plastic Magnetic Builder Set
This looks like a pretty basic toy, made of strong magnets and recycled plastic magnetic rods. But there are loads of ways you can play with it, and my two girls (7 and 9) have been playing with it non stop. I was actually surprised by how much they love it — I thought it would be more suitable for younger kids.
You can make loads of shapes and towers, or just experiment with the laws of attraction. The magnets are really strong, so this is a really sturdy toy suitable for age 3 plus. But as I’ve found, great for quite a lot older!
There are lots of GeoMag kits, so you can combine them like you would Lego, to make more and more elaborate structures.
Eco-Friendly Gifts for Kids: Books
Greta Thunberg’s ‘No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference’
Greta Thunberg needs no introduction. This is the hardback version of her book but there’s a paperback too.
Eco-Friendly Gifts for Kids: Fashion
Mutha-Hood Organic Empowerment T-Shirts
These pale pink ‘Strong Girls Club’ organic t-shirts are my girls’ favourites.
Every Mutha.Hood t-shirt is manufactured under Fair Wear standards. This makes sure that conditions are safe and healthy with no forced or child labour. They use organic cotton, which is produced sustainably and dyed with GOTS approved chemicals. The organic ethical empowerment t-shirts are printed in the U.K. using eco-friendly water based ink.
You can see more about these fab t-shirts on my full review here: I have one too!
I ordered this STRONG GIRLS CLUB navy and bronze organic sweatshirt for Ava and I can’t wait to give it to her! I’m so impressed with their eco-friendly mailer packaging which is carbon neutral, made from sugarcane and fully recyclable. Their inner packaging is compostable.
Parkland Bayside Recycled Backpack
Thea needs a backpack for school and I wanted to get her one that’s eco-friendly and will last. I know she’ll love this pink polkadot Bayside Backpack by Parkland. I’d be totally happy to carry it too, which is lucky as I probably will, on the school run!
It’s made of 100% recycled polyester from 12 recycled plastic bottles and has a lifetime guarantee. the straps are padded and it has a water bottle side pocket to keep it upright and separate from any books.
I bought it from Bon Tot, so it’s also supporting a small UK business too. The Bayside is for bigger kids, and the Edison is smaller, ideal for nursery or the first few years of primary school.
Organic Clothes from Piccalilly
Quite a few years ago now, we were brand ambassadors for organic kids clothing brand Piccalilly. You can read much more about this lovely small Yorkshire-based brand here.
Ava’s grown out of those original clothes now, but Thea is now wearing some of Ava’s, and we have passed the smaller ones to my niece, and they have been passed on to her little cousin, and still going strong!
Thea was especially attached to this lush mustard sweatshirt, so we got her the next size up when she grew out of it and it’s still available here. The beauty of slow fashion, hey!
Ethical and Eco-Friendly Kids’ Stocking Fillers
Here are some fab stocking fillers you can pop in with a clear conscience!
Eco-friendly Paper Toys from The Paper Party Bag Shop
Step aside plastic tat because there’s a new way to fill your stockings (or party bags).
The Paper Party Bag Shop was launched in February 2018 — creating a one-stop shop for non-plastic, eco-friendly and fun goodies and bags.
They don’t use any plastic in any of our toys and the packaging is made from potato/corn starch and compostable when disposed of correctly.
We only use suppliers who share our values so there is no plastic in our supply chain. As well as making our products in the UK we also only source our materials from the UK too. Our packaging design is simple, modern and gender neutral — the focus is the toy.

Here you see some paper toys in cornstarch wrapping, cardboard stencils, notebooks and pencils that you can plant!
Rowdy Kind Plastic Free Shampoo Bars
Rowdy Kind are a new independent brand founded earlier this year by Kate Tilbury, after her son asked some tricky questions, like ‘Why do we use plastic bottles if they are so bad?” She left her career at global beauty brands to found her own ethical company.
And so her fabulously fruity-scented and fun shampoo, body wash and conditioner bars were born!
Made in England with no ingredients that would end up on the naughty list, Rowdy Kind plastic-free and vegan children’s bodycare is made specifically to be kind to kids’ sensitive skin.
One bar is the equivalent to two bottles of traditional shampoo, and they’re ethically made, cruelty-free, with no sulfates, parabens or PEGs. They are lovely chunky, brightly-coloured bars, and smell incredible. We’ve tested them on the girls’ hair and they leave it clean and fresh, and silky smooth!
The shampoo lathers really well and this is the only conditioner bar I’d found that actually works. You just smooth it over clean wet hair and rinse. It doesn’t feel like it’s doing much until the water rinses it, whereby it magically makes the hair go so silky and smooth!
Eco-Friendly Fixing Kits from Sugru
Making do and mending is just as important as buying ethically. Reusing and upcyling existing stuff we already have is a great way to keep things out of landfill, and test our creativity. Sugru have lots of ways to make it really fun!
Their special mouldable glue now comes in these cool little tins, with lots of inspiration about what you can use it for. I have the Create & Craft Kit — the glue is non-toxic so perfect for older kids.
Not sure how to use it? They also have loads of inspiration on their website here.

The Night Before Christmas Magic Drops
These The Night Before Christmas Magic Drops aren’t really a stocking filler- more for a Christmas Eve Box! This cute little glass bottle helps calm excitable children so they actually go to sleep!
We’ve put them in calming Lemon Balm hydrosol that we distilled ourselves in the summer rather than the usual alcohol that flower essences are usually preserved in so it won’t matter if the whole bottle is drunk at once.
Saskia’s Flower Essences
Saskia Marjoram has been making flower essences (similar to the Bach Flower Remedies) in the UK for over 15 years.
Ingredients
Lemon Balm hydrosol (Melissa officinalis) with flower essences of:
- White Chestnut — for stopping thoughts going round and round and round
- Red Chestnut — for not worrying about things you can’t change
- Wild Garlic -to stop you feeling scared that Santa won’t come
- Speedwell -for slowing right down
- Oak -for knowing it is best to rest and recharge because tomorrow is going to be even better if you aren’t tired
- Cherry Plum — gently calming
