Are you looking for a more affordable clean mascara, that actually works? I have tried loads of clean mascaras over the years and I love some of them (I’m looking at you, PHB Ethical Beauty Mesmerise Mascara, PHB Ethical Beauty All-In-One Mascara, Inika Bold Lash and RMS Beauty Straight Up Mascara) but they are all pricey. I have also tried some cheaper clean-ish mascaras but they have all been pretty terrible. So this time, I’m reviewing Lily Lolo Big Lash Mascara, which has a regular price of £14.50, but is currently on sale for £11.60 to see how it compares to my more expensive favourite mascaras.

This photo shows the first time I used Big Lash Mascara from Lily Lolo and I was impressed! My lashes were full, long and very dark. I was wearing 2 coats of Lily Lolo Big Lash Mascara here and it looked good all night. You can apply further coats, but I don’t feel the need.

(I’m also wearing RMS Lipstick, Madara Foundation and Concealer, Love the Planet Powder and Blusher, and Madara Cosmic Drops Highlighter.)

And here is a close up of my lashes, with two coats of Big Lash Mascara.

This vegan mascara comes in a sleek matte black tube, in a recyclable cardboard box. Lily Lolo Big Lash Mascara is made using natural ingredients and without any suspect chemicals. “That means no carbon black and DEA — which are both often found in mainstream brands’ mascaras — and no parabens, synthetic perfumes or anything else that is unnecessary and unsafe.”

It has a large bristle brush that is great for my top lashes, getting into the roots, and separating them well. The only downside is that it’s a bit too big to coat bottom lashes without a lot of mess.

I’m impressed by this clean mascara. It lasts well, and you can reapply for even more volume if you want to, without it feeling cakey. At the end of the day, there can be a little flakey beneath my eyes, but it is minimal and brushes away easily. All in all, I have been happy to use this natural mascara daily, and find it even looks good with just one layer.
