Father’s Day is just around the corner, on Sunday 21st June. This year will be a strange Father’s Day for many, as lots of us won’t be able to celebrate in the usual way. For us, that’s going out for lunch with our extended family, which is probably the best gift we can give my dad. So this year we need to think outside the box for ways to show our dads, stepdads, adopted dads, and granddads how much we love them. I’ve got a few meaningful Father’s Day gifts that you can order online to get you started. Some of them have been gifted for inclusion in this guide and some, I’ve bought myself. Read on for meaningful Father’s Day gift inspiration.

Meaningful Father’s Day Gift Experiences

I think most most dads want to spend quality time with their kids, so the opportunity to do this is a great meaningful Father’s Day gift. During lockdown, we may have been spending a lot more time than usual together, but for us, and I’m sure many other people, it hasn’t exactly been fun a lot of the time, as we juggle work and home school. So planning a mini break or day out makes the perfect Father’s Day gift idea, giving dads something to look forward to when lockdown is over.

Plan a Family Visit to London (after Lockdown)

Buy a Gift family break in London is a perfect Father's Day gift

Last year I collaborated with buyagift by reviewing a night at a family room in a London hotel and a family entry to the Tower of London for Father’s Day. We all had such a lovely time and made many happy memories. The girls presented dad with these vouchers on Father’s Day, and booked a weekend in the summer to use them. You can buy this gift here.

It was so lovely to have something look forward to, and it didn’t take up loads of space in our house!

A Food or Drink Making Kit is a Meaningful Father’s Day Gift

Giving dad a gift that he can turn into a hobby is another meaningful Father’s Day gift idea. How about giving dad a chance to brew his own beer, distil his own gin, or even make cheese? These are also things the kids could potentially help with too.

This year I’ve bought my husband a Gin Making Kit from Ethical Superstore, which you can buy here. This kit has everything you need to distill your own gin, just add vodka. The bonus is that as a gin lover myself, I get to benefit too 😉

I just need to add a botle of vodka, and then this kit has everything else you he’ll need for two 750ml bottles of homemade gin. The Expert kit contains:

  • 750ml Italian glass bottle with stopper
  • Bottle label
  • Filter papers
  • Funnel
  • 2 x Sachets of botanical blends — juniper berries, cardamom, bay leaf, allspice berries, lemon, coriander, pink peppercorns and black peppercorn
  • 2 x Test tubes — rose and juniper

A Beer Subscription Kit for Beer-Loving Dads

Subscription boxes make such great gifts, and Father’s Day is no exception! Why not check out the Flavourly Craft Beer Discover Club? It sends you eight beers, and exclusive magazine and a snack, all delivered for only £19.90, worth over £30. If you click through here, you’ll get £5 off your first beer discovery box. Ryan also gets £5 off his next month.

Flavourly Craft Beer Subscription - the perfect Father's Day gift

One of the things that really appeals to us is that it supports small independent breweries from all over the world, rather than the mainstream multinational companies. It’s also the gift that keeps on giving, as he’ll get more delivered every month. Ryan enjoys it so much more than the big named beer, as he loves trying new flavours. Plus, it’s cheaper than buying craft beers from a supermarket, and way more fun.

Family Photos Make Meaningful Father’s Day Gifts

One thing I planned to do is get our family photos from our amazing holiday to Florida last year printed. This would be such a great Father’s Day present, but sadly I haven’t had time to sort through them as there are thousands. In previous years Ive been more organised and had these cute mini photobooks from Social Print Studio printed. There are plenty of online printing places to get your photos printed beautifully.

I’ve got a family photo printed from our wonderful session with photographer Vicki Hull. You can see more of her session with us on this post. This was a couple of years ago but Vicki is now taking bookings for socially distanced doorstep shoots around Stewkley, Buckinghamshire. She’s also booking garden shoots and you can find the details here.

How about booking a socially-distanced doorstep photography session with a photographer local to you?
